How To Match Your Makeup To Your Mood
Have you ever watched The Craft? You know, the film based around 4 female witches who went completely rogue. It’s a great film if you’re into suspense thrillers, but that’s not the point. The coolest thing about the film (besides the fact that there were high school witches that could do magic) was the makeup these high school witches wore while doing the magic. You could take one look at those girls and immediately understand that they were proud to be rebels. The smudged black eyeliner that rimmed their eyes, the blood red and dark plum lipsticks that saturated their lips and their unkempt hair – they were experts at representing their emotions through their hair and makeup choices.
This form of self-expression isn’t just something we see in movies, we are constantly defining ourselves by what we choose to wear – especially when it comes to what we put on our face. Here at American Beauty Star, we want to help you find your truest form of self-expression, because if we’re not here for that…then what are we really here for? So if you’re feeling happy, relaxed, or just downright rebellious, you should try some of these looks.
Go for a bright palette – think teals, yellows, light purples and lime greens. Be sure to keep your skin tone and eye color in mind when choosing. Get an eyeliner or neon eyeshadow in one of those shades, dab some in the inner corners of your eye (or put some on your lower lash line) and spread the positivity!
For a relaxed look, minimal makeup is where it’s at. Put on some nude lipstick and lightly coat your lashes with brown mascara. You can dab some rosy blush onto your cheeks if you’d like to add a little more color to your face, but keep the makeup light and avoid using dark colors.
Shiny metallics are great for expressing sensuality. Brush some bronze eyeshadow on your eyelids and dab some on the inner corners of your eyes. You can smudge some dark colored eyeliner on your lower lids to really set the mood. Trust us, those around you will feel the heat. Nothing says confidence like vibrant red lips and bold brows. So, brush on some of your favorite red lipstick and fill in those brows with a color closest to your naturally hair color (just don’t get too crazy) and you’ll show the world that you’re ready to take on anything.
This one is all about the dark side. Smudge some black eyeliner on your upper and lower lash lines, and swipe on a dark plum lip shade. Basically…just take cues from The Craft and you’ll be unstoppable.
