Our Favorite YouTube Beauty Gurus
AmericanBeautyStar.com has the best hair and makeup tutorials around, but if you want to learn even more, YouTube is a wonderful place to look for beauty content. Because it’s a democratic platform, anyone and everyone can post videos for the entire Internet to see…
With all that content available at our fingertips, it’s important to know which beauty gurus can actually teach you helpful information. So, we’ve come up with a list of our favorite YouTube beauty gurus with the best tips and tutorials to help you perfect your beauty game.
Of course we love Season 1 Guest Judge and YouTube beauty guru Michelle Phan, and we aren’t the only ones- she has 8.9 million subscribers on YouTube and 2.1 million followers on Instagram. While Michelle got her start on YouTube, she has since left the platform to work on her mental health and pursue other goals. She explained her reason for leaving in an emotional video that you can watch here. We wish Michelle all the best, and in the meantime we’ll be rewatching all of her old tutorials.
Although she’s no longer on YouTube, we thought Michelle was important to have on this list as she’s provided us with numerous tutorials and an amazing makeup line, EM cosmetics. We’re obsessed with The Life Palette she makes, a travel compact that includes 36 shades of eye, lip and cheek colors.
Nikkie is an amazingly talented hair and makeup artist who loves sharing tutorials with her 9.5 million YouTube subscribers. She went viral in 2015 after posting ‘The Power of Makeup!‘, a video that shows Nikkie transforming one side of her face with cosmetics. After that blew up, she began regularly posting tutorials, challenge videos, and product reviews on her channel.
She posts playful videos like her ‘Full Face Using Only Kids Makeup Challenge‘ that raked in a staggering 27 million+ views. Nikkie is an open book when it comes to cosmetic procedures she’s undergone, like lip augmentation and other dental work, and we love her honesty. She also collaborated with OFRA to create the gorgeous OFRA x NIKKIETUTORIALS collection.
Patrick’s YouTube channel started gaining popularity back in 2013. Since then, he’s amassed over 3.6 million subscribers and has uploaded over 200 videos. Some of his most popular videos are makeup tutorials with celebrities like Kim Kardashian West and Katy Perry.
He also collaborated with MAC Cosmetics on the MAC x Patrick Starrr collection, which features lipsticks, setting powder and more. We love the collection’s holographic packaging.
Huda Beauty, aka Huda Kattan, has made an empire out of her online popularity. Since creating her YouTube channel, Huda has gained over 2.2 million subscribers and she’s amassed over 25 million followers on Instagram. She posts unique beauty hack videos like, ‘Why Shaving Your Face Is Awesome‘, that have gone viral.
Huda has become an entrepreneur by creating a massively successful makeup brand, Huda Beauty. The brand has tons of products, including her 30-shade #FauxFilter foundation line. Huda was also a guest judge on Season 1 of American Beauty Star, watch her in action here!
If you haven’t already heard of Jackie Aina, you should check out her channel ASAP. We love Jackie’s sense of humor and unapologetic approach to makeup. She’s definitely on a mission to show both men and women how to not only look good, but feel good as well.
Some of her most popular videos are part of a series called ‘The Makeup Trends We’re Ditching in ___‘, in which she roasts popular trends from each year. She also posts plenty of tutorials, product reviews, and makeup hauls to keep her 2.2 million subscribers in the loop. Jackie has been outspoken about changing the lack of WOC in the beauty industry. She offers advice on which makeup brands cater to a wider range of skin tones, and she’s always been a fan of NARS foundation. We love that Jackie is changing the landscape of the beauty industry and can’t wait to see what’s next for her.
