This Lion King Makeup Collection is Fierce
Disney’s Sir John x Luminess Cosmetics Lion King Makeup Collection is Just What We Need
It’s been a month since Sir John and Luminess Cosmetics dropped their Lion King Makeup Collection! If you love makeup as much as we do, you know that Sir John is one of the makeup artists Beyoncé works with often. The pair have worked together for much of Sir John’s career; he is responsible for many of her sickening makeup looks, including this fun Coachella look. On July 19th, Disney’s remake of The Lion King will hit theatres; by now you should know that Beyoncé plays “Nala”. All these facts considered, it makes sense that Sir John would be the artist Disney collaborated with for this fierce collection!
The wait is over
The Lion King Makeup Collection launched in early June after months of teasing by the celebrity makeup artist. The limited edition release features: a “Kingdom” sculpting palette for contouring; a “Can’t Wait to be Queen” eye shadow palette; a “Circle of Life” highlighter; a “Legacy” tinted lip balm; two “Be Brave” matte lipsticks; and two “Be Prepared” liquid lipsticks. From the looks of it, using these products will give you that iconic natural glow that Sir John is known for! Apart from the fact that we’re here for anything Sir John does, you have to admit that these product names are quite clever.
Queen of the Pack
On Tuesday night, the Internet was abuzz with images from The Lion King screening. All eyes were on Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Carter who stole the show while wearing matching custom Alexander McQueen outfits. The diamante, chain embellished blazer and tulle skirt are part of their pre-Fall 2019 collection.
It should be noted that Sir John did not paint Beyoncé’s face for the night, Rokael did. Rokael applied her makeup using products from Sir John’s Lion King Makeup Collection! The celebrity makeup artist gave Queen B a stunning, glassy purple smokey eye that reminded us a tad of the eye Mario did for Kim Kardashian-West at the 2019 Met Gala. He kept the focus on her dramatic eyes and left her lips nude yet glossy. Beyoncé’s makeup and elaborate finger waved, cornrows ponytail will go down as one of our favorites looks from her for the year!
To celebrate Sir John’s Lion King Collection and the upcoming film which hits theatres on July 19, we decided to round up some of our favorite looks that used this eye shadow palette.
Anna Petrosian
Two things: full, messy brows are always in; teal is the color for the summer! We love how Anna took her natural smokey eye up a notch by adding the teal cut crease. To bring the look together, she kept her lips neutral and glossy – the only way to go when you’re doing a lot with your eyes.

Desi Perkins
If anyone knows how to beat their face, it’s going to be Desi Perkins. Desi created this ethereal goddess of a look using a number of products, including the Lion King Makeup Collection. The sliver of icy blue in the inner corners of her eyes was such a good idea, we’re mad we didn’t think of it first!
Patrick Starrr
Patrick Starrr gave this ferocious tutorial for the Lion King Makeup Collection and we are inspired! We love an earthy smokey eye – it’s easy, timeless, and works all year round.
