Don’t Forget Sunscreen!

Skincare tip #1: Sunscreen is non-negotiable

Do you actually apply sunscreen every day, regardless of if you’re spending it at the beach or commuting to the office? It’s common to put sunscreen on if you’re going surfing, but what about a 30 minute drive to work? If you’re inside a car there’s no need to use it… right? Wrong. Sometimes we forget that the sun is a huge ball of gas with temperatures of over 15 million degree Celsius. While your windshield may offer some UVA and UVB protection, the glass in your side windows does not. Rain or shine, the sun damage can (and will!) happen.

That is why wearing sunscreen is our #1 skincare tip. Lack of protection can lead to premature aging, and puts you at a greater risk for skin cancer. So, take special care of areas more susceptible to sunburns like the face, lips, scalp, chest and arms.

Of course, consistent sunscreen application is easier said than done. But, there are a few simple ways you can seamlessly incorporate SPF protection into your routine. If you follow these skincare tips, applying sunscreen will become a habit in no time!

Moisturizer

Using a moisturizer formulated with SPF protection is one of the easiest ways to save your skin. You’re already applying moisturizer, so why not find one with some included protection? If you have oily or acne-prone skin, EltaMD makes an amazing, dermatologist-tested SPF 46 moisturizer. Formulated with Hyaulronic acid for hydration and vitamin B3 for anti-inflammatory properties, there’s not much more you could ask for.

Setting Spray

Worried about ruining your makeup and looking greasy? We have three words for you: setting spray sunscreen. Yes, it exists. And yes, it’s as amazing as you think it is. Why not add some extra protection in a refreshing mist that will keep your skin protected and your makeup perfected? Ulta Beauty’s SPF 50 Rose Water Setting Spray is a flawless no-mess solution to applying sunscreen.

Translucent Powder

Unfortunately it’s not enough to just apply SPF in the morning. For maximum protection you should re-apply SPF every couple of hours. Have you ever gotten a sunburn from sitting in the window seat of an airplane? What about an asymmetrical sunburn on your driving arm from your commute? Yeah, it’s not fun. While you can certainly use some SPF setting spray to re-apply throughout the day, those with oily skin probably want to get rid of excess moisture, not add to it with a mist.

If you’re one of those people, check out Bella Donna’s SPF 50 Powder Sunscreen. The all natural, translucent powder protects against harmful UVA/UVB rays and is perfect for quick and easy sun protection on the go! The product is beautifully designed to dispense the perfect amount of powder right onto the brush for a no-fuss application.
