Fall’s Coolest Hair Trends

From New York Fashion Week to the 70th Annual Emmy Awards, we’ve seen one huge trend on both the red carpet and the runway… hair accessories!

Yes, hair accessories are coming back in a big way. Whether it’s bobby pins, bows, or eye-catching gemstones, we’re seeing adorned locks everywhere. Here are some ideas on how to incorporate fall’s trendiest hair accessories into your personal style.

Bows

Bows are a fun way to make any ordinary look pop. We’ve always known that hair bows are playful – but they added a whole new level of elegance to the looks in the Emilia Wickstead Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2019 runway show at London Fashion Week. Adding a bow, or even a nicely tied ribbon, is a trendy and cute way to upgrade any ponytail. Have fun with it too – there’s no need to match the color of the bow to your outfit! We love the contrast between the black bow and Emilia Wickstead’s embellished white dress.

Gemstones

One of the looks we loved from the 2018 Emmy Awards was Letitia Wright’s half-up half-down hairdo. The Black Panther star’s bun was adorned with diamond gemstones to match her gown. We love the versatility of hair gems – whether you’re headed to a red carpet event or the club, they’re an easy way to add glitz and glamour to any hairstyle. Just be careful not to go too overboard… you want the look to be eye-catching, not blinding!

Bobby Pins

Bobby pins are a go-to tool for securing various hairstyles and taming pesky flyaways, but did you know they’re also perfect for accessorizing? Just like the hairstyles on the Nonie runway at NYFW, creative placement of bobby pins can add a “wow” factor and tie an entire look together. We love how edgy yet accessible it is – who doesn’t have spare bobby pins laying around?!

Flowers

Just because Summer has officially come to an end, doesn’t mean we’re saying goodbye to florals. Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood wore her hair in a middle part with a low bun and face-framing strands, with flowers delicately tucked into the bun at the 2018 Emmy Awards. Using flowers as hair accessories is the perfect way to create a showstopping look from something as simple as a low bun. The best part is that you can choose whatever flowers you wish to use – dark red, orange and yellow flowers are perfect for Fall.

Beads

How cool is this look from the Chromat runway show during NYFW?! Adding beads to braided hair is a playful way to show that you’re on trend. The 90’s truly are back in style, and we love the edgy coolness the beads bring to the table. If you don’t have the same lengthy locks as the model in the Chromat show, don’t worry, this look works on all lengths. If you have shorter hair, instead of adding beads to every braid, try adding them to the bottom of a few braids on one side of your face. There’s so many ways you can play with this trend to make it work for your own unique style, so keep trying out different iterations of the look until you find your favorite.
