Beauty on the Beat at the SAG Awards
Our Favorite Red Carpet Beauty & Style Looks from the 25th Annual SAG Awards
The 25th annual SAG Awards was held today and as usual, we’re critiquing some of our favorite beauty looks that hit the red carpet. Now that a few award shows are done, and the Academy Awards is on the horizon, it’s interesting to see how style choices differ by award show. Like the Critics’ Choice Awards, we think that the SAG Awards lends to a younger, more quirky vibe in terms of style choices. If you don’t think so, the looks we rounded up below may convince you otherwise. This year, some of your favorite actresses kept it easy, breezy, and colorful! So, if you’re still dealing with the brute of winter and wondering where Spring is, these ladies may warm you up a bit.
She Puts the Gag in GaGa
First up, is Lady GaGa in a classic, cool all white look. Unlike the periwinkle blue gown she wore at the Golden Globe Awards, Lady GaGa kept it fresh and sultry with her look. The Star is Born singer turned actress wore her hair pulled into a low bun with side parted waves that gave off a vintage Hollywood vibe that she wears so well! Her deep crimson matte lip tells us that we were right in predicting that vamp lips are trending for Spring. GaGa’s long, feathery eyelashes and light eye makeup compliment her gothic gold choker and and gold flower-shaped earrings. 10/10!
Yellow is never not mellow
Next up is actress Aja Naomi King. Although color choices were lighter for previous awards shows this year, Aja turned up in a staple spring color – yellow! While yellow looks good against anyone’s complexion, it truly pops against hers. With her hair pulled into a sleek, side part ponytail, Aja was one of a few actresses who proved that low ponytails might just be trending for Spring, too. Aja’s charcoal smokey eyes and nude lips brought the right amount of drama to her fun colored dress!
Jump on it, low pony… tails
As mentioned, low ponytails are trending. For her SAG Awards look, Mandy ditched her usual tousled waves and went for something a bit more demure. Mandy’s low ponytail and black eyeliner gave us major 90s vibes that we could never get enough of! Nothing quite shows off your decollete like hair pulled off your face. We will be sure to follow Aja and Mandy’s lead next time we want to bare it all.
Straight down the middle (part)
Another fun hairstyle that could be trending is a middle part with hair either straight or wavy, tucked behind your ears. As seen on Rachel Brosnahan and Laura Harrier, this look is made for girls who want to keep it dark but flirty at the same time. While both actresses kept their brows heavy and eye makeup light, Laura Harrier opted for her signature pop of color on the lips. Sure, matching your makeup to your outfit has been a faux pas for quite some time, but Laura pulls it off effortlessly every time.
It’s full of secrets
Finally, how can we round up our favorite looks from the SAG Awards without mentioning Yara Shahidi?! The Screen Actors’ Guild Awards ambassador was her usual fresh faced, cute self. Yara let her naturally big tresses down with curly bangs that framed her face. Her rose quartz eyeshadow, rosy cheeks, and lips played well against her blush jumpsuit dress. One thing we will always love about Yara is she knows how to have fun with all her looks!
