Leading Ladies Love Looks, Too!
Our Favorite Beauty Looks from Leading Ladies
The 2019 awards season started off with winning looks from the leading ladies who took home awards at the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards. Kicking off our favorite time of year with style, we recap the looks served by the winning ladies!
Patricia Arquette – Best Actress in a Limited Series or Television Movie
This leading lady who won an award for her role in Escape from Dannemora kept things classic with a black evening gown and makeup/no-makeup look. Pro tip: hair pulled back or up draws attention to the features you love best. In Patricia’s case, we’d say her blue/green pierced our souls even more against her black dress, rosy cheeks, and lip! If less is truly more, Patricia was a winner indeed!
Patricia Clarkson – Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Television Movie
Yes, you’re reading this right – another leading lady named Patricia took home an award this evening. Like Arquette, Patricia Clarkson was quintessentially old Hollywood with her look. Her red lips and wavy collarbone grazing strawberry blonde hair was just the right of glamour for a winning lady. Side note: has any lady in red ever done wrong?
Sandra Oh – Best Actress in a TV Series Drama
Speaking of old Hollywood glamour, Sandra Oh kept things cute with her red carpet look. The touch of pink on her hooded eyelids brought out her cool undertones; while her coral lip showed that she is as ready for Spring as we are! Her side tucked wavy bob is giving us major Marilyn Monroe vibes which always makes sense any time, any where, truly.
Did we mention that this leading lady had three wardrobe changes?
In her first wardrobe change, Sandra let her hair down while wearing a red tuxedo evening gown. For her second wardrobe change, she pulled her hair back as she wore a white evening gown with champagne sequins sleeves. With all three looks, two things remained consistent: a pop of color on the lips and hair that drew attention to her bold lips. Needless to say, we loved them all!
Regina King – Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture
In her look, Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, Regina King, kept her face neutral against a mauve sequins evening gown. She drew attention to her hazel eyes with dramatic mascara that fanned out her eyelashes. Her metallic brown smokey eye was applied so lightly, you almost missed it! What was not missed, however, is the sexy waves she wore in her hair. Regina’s look was clean and we love a clean look!
Rachel Brosnahan – Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series, Comedy
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel leading lady, Rachel Brosnahan, was simply a ray of sunshine! Her coral smokey eyes and lips were on trend with Pantone’s Living Coral 2019 Color of the Year. The pop of color on her eyes and lips played up well against her golden yellow dress. Although yellow was not a color we suggested for cooler skin undertones, Rachel has us reconsidering!
Olivia Coleman – Best Actress in a Movie, Comedy
Here is another leading lady that kept things classic at this year’s award show. Olivia Coleman went for a pop of red on her lips and a metallic smokey eye that works well against a black canvas. One thing we need not overlook, though, are her untamed, bushy brows – a trend that continues from 2018.
Glenn Close – Best Actress in a Movie, Drama
Although she’s been a Hollywood leading lady for quite some time, Glenn Close’s makeup look was anything but mature. Her silver eye shadow and liner, rosy cheeks, and glossy pink lips were perfect for anyone, no matter their age. We love a makeup/no-makeup look and expand on which actresses rocked it best here.
