Purple Reigned at the 2019 BBMAs
The 2019 BBMAs Red Carpet Gave Us Regal Realness
If you’re a fashion girl or boy, where do you find inspiration? Some people spend hours scouring Pinterest, their Instagram explore feed, and good ol’ print magazines. Us? We take to red carpets to see what the stars (or wannabes) are wearing! Easy enough, right? From neon green to tangerine, the 2019 BBMAs or Billboard Music Awards red carpet was a splash of colors and fun! Indeed, we are inspired to get our summer looks in order for the sizzling months ahead! While tneon green and tangerine are sure to be worn (out) all summer ‘19, we were shocked to see this mysterious color making its rounds – purple! Usually reserved for cooler months, this bold, rich hue showed us who was supreme last night. We round up a few of our favorite purple looks below.
Cardi B
First up is Belcalis Almanzar, best known as Cardi B. Cardi gave us full rap diva vibes with two wardrobe changes and Moschino looks fit for an Arabian or Armenian princess. Cardi wore her hair sleek – part down the middle, bone straight, and down to her butt. Her makeup was fairly neutral with a sliver of purple eyeliner on her lower lids for a bit of fun. Cardi was bronzed, toned, and ready for her winning night ahead.
Taylor Swift
Another purple look we loved was from Taylor Swift. The pop starlet, who is on the trail promoting her new single “Me”, wore a lilac boho-inspired mini ruffle dress. The queen of re-branding herself kept in theme with the new pastel aesthetic of her Instagram feed. Taylor played up her whimsical look with her signature full , wispy bangs that framed her cute face. A swipe of purple eye shadow and pink lips gave us that innocent, girly vibe that she was undoubtedly going for last night. 10/10? Sure, why not.
Sofia Carson
Not one to disappoint, Sofia Carson was a vision in lilac! Not only is purple trending, but it turns out ruffles are too. The Descendants star wore a one shoulder, ruffled evening gown that cascaded over her body. Keeping the attention on her statement dress, Sofia wore her hair slicked back and kept her makeup neutral with very full brows. Dare we say, it’s a makeup/no-makeup look? We particularly love the “virgin brows” trend that is all the rage this summer, by the way. No more plucking and tweezing, guys! It’s all about a full brow this summer. You’re welcome.
Yung Miami
Next up is Yung Miami, one half of the female rap duo, City Girls (periodT!). Yes, Caresha is not wearing purple, but she is wearing the heck out of the current “it” color, neon green! Like Sofia, she wore a one shoulder, ruffled two piece outfit that cascaded over her body. In case you’re wondering who the designer is, it’s custom babe – Oyemwen – and quite affordable might we add?! Yung Miami pulled her look together with bronzed skin, earthy eye shadow, and neutral lips. Of course we love her middle part, low ponytail – it showed off her features beautifully!
Tori Kelly
In case you didn’t notice, women in pantsuits are trending this Spring. Singer Tori Kelly took a color blocking risk by wearing two colors rarely seen together – tangerine and emerald green. To complete this look, she wore her hair half up/half down for a smart 70s look that gave us subtle Farah Fawcett vibes. Groovy baby!
