Are You Ready for your Red Carpet Night Out?

American Beauty Star Season 2 Contestants Make the Red Carpet Sparkle

Do you know how to sparkle on the red carpet? In episode 5 of American Beauty Star the contestants are challenged to create an eye-catching red carpet hair and makeup look, inspired by JTV jewelry pieces and formal evening gowns. From the Emmy Awards, to the Grammy Awards, and even the Met Gala, the remaining artists pull out all the stops in this challenge. Watch the full episode and \check out their final looks below!

Contestant: Axel

For his look, Axel took inspiration from Hollywood’s biggest night, the Academy Awards. Axel’s look is not unlike the more minimalist looks we see on the Oscars red carpet year after year. Nothing quite says elegance as a part down the middle and natural makeup.

Jumpsuit: Black Halo

Shoes: Carlos Shoes

Bag: Nina Shoes

Contestant: Brittney

Unlike the Academy Awards, the Emmys are when actors truly show off their personalities and flair. To embody this, Brittney chose a teal dress, pulled her model’s hair in a low bun, and added a bit of fun with a pop of pink under eyeliner.

Contestant: Diana

If you know anything about fashion’s biggest night, the Met Gala is where everyone goes out! It’s a costume ball, after all. While Diana’s wardrobe styling was not very costume-y, her hair styling was just the kind of look we expect to see on the red carpet. As for her model’s makeup, well we will leave that for you to judge!

Contestant: Jayson

If we had to describe Jayson’s look in one phrase, it would be: “From Bollywood to Hollywood”. Just like Axel, Jayson’s look was ready for the Academy Awards red carpet. Now, do we love the Indian-inspired theme? It’s interesting, for sure, and not something we see very often on the Oscars red carpet. Nevertheless, the model’s strong brows and bronze smokey eye are what saved this look from being completely costume-y!

Contestant: Kendra

For her red carpet look, Kendra drew inspiration from the Golden Globes. Once again, Kendra took the safe but classic route by pulling her model’s hair in a low bun and keeping her makeup natural and minimal. In other words, it’s totally doable for the Golden Globes.

Contestant: Lucy

Now this is the drama we signed up for! For her red carpet look, Lucy Garland was inspired by the Met Gala red carpet. We’re not calling Lucy a seer or anything, but the look is definitely in line with this year’s Camp theme. If you follow Lucy on Instagram, you know that drag queen, over-the-top makeup is kind of her thing… and she is great at it! Flawless execution.

Oz gave us Spanish lady tease with her Oscars inspired red carpet look. Can you imagine this look on the Oscars red carpet? You tell us.

Contestant: Ricardo

For his look, Ricardo drew inspiration from a music awards show… we’re thinking the MTV Video Music Awards. While the judges may have had other things to say about this look, what’s most interesting is the wet hair look. This look is often worn by Kim Kardashian-West and we love it!

Contestant: Ronaldo

With pink as one of the most popular colors on red carpets so far this year, Ronaldo’s look was spot on. For his inspiration, he looked no further than the Oscars red carpet and it shows. This is definitely a look we can see for any of the Hollywood award shows – 10/10!
