Throwback Vibes Rocked the 2018 BET Awards

These beauties gave us major vintage beauty vibes at the 2018 BET Awards

Count on the BET Awards to be a display of epic beauty and fashion vibes! Last night, some of our favorites showed up and showed out for the network’s biggest night of the year. Per usual, there were many head turning, jaw dropping looks that had us looking at our closets and asking, “how do we even compare?” Well, there’s a saying that “you can’t compete where you don’t compare“, but that’s not what we’re here to discus. Blac Chyna

First up is Blac Chyna. Everyone’s favorite ex-Kardashian bestie brought the sex with her bold look. A chain link outfit in the summer makes a lot of sense; add some curves and killer tattoos to it and now you have a look that simply won’t let up off our necks! In an unexpected turn, Angela ditched her wigs and opted for a silver, finger-waved pixie ‘do. Let’s talk 90s vibes and ‘tings. As if her look couldn’t get any more bold, she wore a blue monochromatic smokey eye shadow look, full brows, and the perfect nude lip.  She looked absolutely incredible. Blac Chyna stole the show and that’s honestly on period.

Pro Tip: Either do bold eyes and a subtle lip, or a bold lip and subtle eyes. This way, the two won’t distract from one another!

Janelle Monáe

Next, we have the extremely beautiful Janelle Monáe. The singer and actress who recently “came out” as pansexual, made a statement in her colorful gown. In major cities across the world, June is Pride Month, so her outfit choice was not only cute, but timely! To top off this look, she wore a cute black and red striped baker boy cap and her signature red lips. With a look this loud and proud, Janelle kept her hair and makeup neutral. She pulled her hair into a long ponytail with tresses on either side and rocked an earthy eye shadow look that glistened against her pretty brown skin.

Tyra Banks

To be clear, Tyra Banks invented sandy blonde wigs, angles, smiling with your eyes (aka smize), and a natural beat. All of these were on full display as she walked the red carpet for the 2018 BET Awards. Tyra gave us that early 2000s bob haircut that we love to see on her and jazzed it up with an ombré color. As usual, she wore the perfect natural makeup look and a pop of pink on her lips for a fresh summer appeal.

Amber Rose

Speaking of wigs, Amber Rose was almost unrecognizable in her platinum blonde, wavy bombshell wig! Over the years, Amber has rocked a platinum blonde buzzed haircut that many have tried but few have pulled off. Last night, however, she showed us that she is versatile and could pull off any look. Her hairdo and emerald green velvet dress that showed off her voluptuous body gave us all the 50s pinup doll vibes that we didn’t know we needed! Never one to get too fussy with her makeup, Amber kept her brows and lashes full, and lips glossy and neutral for an all-around sexy look.

Storm Reid

The new generation of Hollywood actresses is so damn cute and Storm Reid proves why! In one of the most age appropriate looks we’ve seen on the red carpet in a while, Storm gave us TLC “No Srubs” vibes with her bantu knots and intergalactic themed outfit. As is expected for a 14-year-old, Storm likely wore a tinted moisturizer, light blush on her cheeks, and a swipe of pink on her lips for a cutesy look that was out of this world.

Chloe x Halle

Black girl magic was in full effect as R&B sister duo, Chloe x Halle, walked the red carpet! There are a million and one reasons why we love these Georgia peaches and their stunning natural beauty is one of them. Whoever said that locs can’t be classy need to take notes from Chloe and Halle. Halle pulled her locs into a high ponytail that showed off her high, rosy cheekbones. She rocked earthy eye shadow, full brows, and red lips with her funky 90s look and we love it! Chloe pulled hers into a funky updo with tresses cascading onto her face. While Halle rocked a red lip with her earthy eye shadow look, Chloe kept her lips neutral and nude. All together, these girls were fun, funky, and fresh – everything we need!

Amandla Stenberg

Not only is Amandla Stenberg an amazing actress, but she is a trendsetter! The 19-year-old gave us mermaid vibes with her colorful ‘do and makeup. She braided purple, pink, and platinum blonde synthetic hair into her jumbo cornrows. While matching your hair and makeup can be a bit risque, Amandla pulled off this look effortlessly. We love a carefree black girl and that is everything Amandla embodied on the red carpet last night.
